As if the United States environmental problems couldn't exacerbate any further, here comes another shocker (though I can't say I'm all that surprised): the news report transcript below reveals that Jeff Donn, an AP reporter, found out that many water-management plants in about 24, major metropolitan areas do not have proper protocols to test for and/or remove pharmaceutical particulates, including pain killers, anti-biotics and anti-seizure medications from our drinking water supplies!

Re: Pharmaceutical Particulate Traces Found in Our Drinking Water Supply
Thu, March 13, 2008 - 6:30 AMIsn't that from when people pee in toilets, flush medicine down the toilet, or throw it in the garbage instead of giving it back to the pharmacy? -

Re: Pharmaceutical Particulate Traces Found in Our Drinking Water Supply
Thu, March 13, 2008 - 8:10 PMThat's what the news piece indicates, but I don't think that big Pharma is totally exonerated, here. What do they do with all the chemicals that they have to dispose of?

Re: Pharmaceutical Particulate Traces Found in Our Drinking Water Supply
Sun, March 30, 2008 - 2:30 AMActually there are always traces of any medicines taken in our pee ,- say hormones from the anti-baby pills, or anything else..- that's why the hormone levels have risen sharply for example in all western civilization water supplies.. (just think of all the farm animals getting anti-biotics as a standard part of their feed!!)
-and then we get to drink it, as well as all wildlife (e.g.fish). and we then eat the wildlife.- slowly we are making sure we are becoming les and less fertile. Ah well, at least we are not as hairy as before!! haha!

But I am surprised that there are no statutory testing procedures in place! Do something about that! Clean water is a human right!!
(I am lucky enough to live in Switzerland, which has one of the worlds best tap waters .. mmm yum)
