Biggun just told me about this car. He said they are like 100K so that is WAY too much for me. It does look sporty. I think they should make a bunch of 10K economy ones that still look cool. I would buy one for sure. But they still require electricity. There is debate on this being a problem too but I think it's better than oil / gas and the pollution regular cars make. ?

Actually, the whole electric car alternative is a red herring to keep people hooked on driving. And the Tesla car, with it's excessive engine is the perfect poster child for what's wrong with the alternative fuels crowd.

Over half the pollution caused by a motor vehicle in it's lifetime is in manufacture and disposal. Where do you think the energy to smelt all that steel you're pushing around comes from?

All the other problems of private cars remain; road building, suburban sprawl, habitat destruction, roughly 40,000 Americans killed annually, etc.

These aren't going to change no matter what you run a private automobile on. Focusing on tailpipe emissions is a way for car companies and folks who should know better to avoid making hard choices.

Quit thinking cars are cool and you'll have taken the first step to freedom.

Excellent points K. You mentioned a few more good things to ponder. I had only mentioned that even the electricity causes pollution but you have presented things that we all know but I honestly didnt think about so much really. I was just thinking "better than gas powered". But you most definitely make great points. I wish we can discuss this further. I wonder if they could make BIG diesel trucks and ships this way though. MUCH of pollution comes from ships. There is one Ship company I heard a story about that is making positive changes and is sort of a forerunner of the future that all shipping companies will follow suit behind. I just wish I could remember the name of the company. This could take some research.
