What is it with hydrogenated and partly hydrogenated food? Mr. M or anyone else.
I just stay away from it. is it that it is resistant to body heat and cannot be eliminated by the body and so it settles in organs permanently.

I dont know it all. But I have read that it's not good for health. That it makes food indigestable and changes metabolism and cell structure or something. That it will make you fat and if you eat enough hydrogenated food that it will eventually possibly be the cause of your death. Or possibly one of many causes. Basically, if you can avoid hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated foods you should. I think it is supposedly done to make the food last longer and "look good" on store shelves. It's the whole food as a product to make money versus food as necessary for a long healthy life. Safeway doesnt actually give a damn. They make so much money and only pay people starting at like 8 bucks an hour. I boycot them as much as possible. I have only been in Safeway like 2 times in the last 4 months. FUCK SAFEWAY!!!
Sorry. Just venting. : ) -

There is so much info. Some people may think it generic or too easy to just post a link like the one here. To me it's easier because it shows how many interesting things there are about this subject. Instead of just posting one link about it. One link to many links is better than one link to one link. Maybe not always. But in this case in my opinion. There are all these negative things about hydogenation. Where are the positive bits about how good it is for us? lol EXACTLY!!! It's bad bad bad I tell you. It's like GMOs. Do we want REAL living food? Or fake dead food? -

Mon, December 29, 2008 - 7:35 PMI know tht=at we can't really digest it.. I think I learned my share on vegancoach.com, or Wiki.
I use olive, grapeseed, and safflower oil for cooking (olive for bread dipping.. Unh so good) but these oils are usually less refined, AND have a lot on mono and poly-unsaturated fat!
P.S. has anyone else gotten to enjoy reading the labels on food for ingredients, etc.? haha, how sad is that.. but so satisfying -

Sat, January 3, 2009 - 10:29 AMYes. I like the saying that if our grandmothers (maybe great grandmothers now!) didn't eat it, we shouldn't.

Thu, February 12, 2009 - 8:44 PMAny form of Hydrogenated fats are toxins, natural animal fats take 18 days for the body to metabolise, hydrogenated fats take 51 days, which means your body uses nearly 3 times the amount of enzymes to eliminate hydrogenated fats from the body. The more enzymes you use the more likely you become deficient in these particular enzymes, once that happens the body rather than metabolizing them begins to store them, thus increasing your chances of diseases, such as heart disease and cancer.
So hydrogenated fats affect not only enzymes and metabolism, they affect hormones as well, hormones are derived from essential fatty acids. list goes on and on. Yes the industrialization of our food chain has absolutely ruined the health of western nations. I believe if was possible to return the food chain to preindustrialized age we would all be alot healthier. I know it's not possible as the drop in food production would starve 1/3 of the world. Which would probably be good for 1/2 the obese population of australia and america.
a couple of good books which really opened my eyes is "Nutrition and Physical Degeneration" by Weston A. Price and "The Untold Story of Milk" by Ron Schmid. Makes you realize how adulterated our food really is, it's so shameful that it's all for the dollar and not our health. -
