Just wanted to hear feedback from all of you regarding the documentary, "Zeitgeist, The Movie".

For those of you who have seen it, you'll know that it highlights alot of the issues that we cover in this tribe, but a few of my colleagues who viewed it felt deeply saddened by its premise, and they confessed a feeling of helplessness and hopelessness, but it had a different effect on me, in that -- after viewing it -- I felt deeply encouraged to spread the word and become a better human being, by showing love and compassion to my fellow citizens, and working hard to preserve and improve our natural and social environment.

Hasn't it already been debunked backwards and forwards? Or am I thinking of another movie, maybe the _What the Bleep..._ thing?

      Mickey,
I have heard some of the excoriations, as well. The first portion that explains the zodiacal connections to the different ages or aeons is not as far-fetched as one might seem. The religious mysticism behind the explanation is actually well-known amongst many theologians. More and more questions are surfacing about the 9-11 attacks. And finally, the controversies surrounding the federal bank are partly true. I'm not sure about the origins of the federal bank; however, its purpose and the way currency is regulated is quite known.

The only problem I had with conspiracies such as what "Zeitgeist" portrayed is the misconception of collusion. I do agree that certain circumstances allow for strange bedfellows; however, I cannot imagine such supposedly "powerful" men as Rockerfeller and Carnegie cooperating with each other. They have such bloated egos. Also, to pull of such a feat takes tremendous planning and secrecy. If it is true, I'm not sure if it is as seamless as the documentary claims.

Finally, I must admit that I find a lot of it to be sensationalized, but I think the overall purpose is for the public to rethink the information, laws and common knowledge that we take for granted. If anything, "Zeitgeist" forces to ask "why" to think outside of the typical paradigms why the world is the way it is.

I can think of better ways of focusing my attentions towards improving the world.

I must really be out of touch; I hadn't even HEARD of this film.

Last night I did see a very good documentary on the environmental impacts of war called Scarred Lands & Wounded Lives: The Environmental Footprint of War. A trailer for this film can be viewed here:

I too think a lot these days about how to cope with all this, to be excited at the possibility of real large-scale change (now that humanity's hand is increasingly being forced) or just depressed that it's unlikely we'll get it together in time to avert large(er)-scale disaster.

I became very curious also about the debunking and refuting of zeitgeist and in so read many of the claims by opponents and also viewed the series of "debunking" videos produced online and referred to all their sources but failed to find any real evidence for their refutation aside from standard encyclopedia entries which have been long since shown to be inaccurate or wholly misconstrued. I did however find this woman's sources very sound www.youtube.com/watch There is a major problem with encyclopedias esp main stream american versions becoming less and less reliable and leaving information out all together- such was the case when I was doing a research paper on Justice Von Liebig and found that very pertinent information concerning his role in the development of industrial chemical fertilizers and analysis methods of incinerated plant matter had been included in only one volume of Britannica 30 years ago and then omitted due to "investor interests."
