Re: Brita - Take Back Your Filters
Sat, May 3, 2008 - 8:09 AMA few years ago they did have a recycling program, and you could drop off your filters where ever you buy new ones. But they eventually stopped the program.....
I really hope they start up again. -

Why Are we Purchasing them in the 1st Place?
Sun, June 1, 2008 - 7:45 AMI do not want to seem like a party pooper, here, but for most of us who live in metropolitan areas, why are we having to filter our water? Please help me understand why that is necessary? Isn't the water that comes from the tap ready to drink? I can't help but feel that this is another gimmick to get us to purchase more unnecessary "stuff". I will sign the petition, don't get me wrong, but I am at a loss in understanding the need for tap water filtration systems in the U.S. and Canada, when it is my understand that most of our tap water is safe and if there are additives or pollutant residuals in our water, is the Brita filtration system even powerful enough to rid the water of them? -

Sun, June 1, 2008 - 11:37 AMThanks for bringing this up Roger!
I tend to agree that most cities have very good water, regulations being what they are
I have to laugh at people buying cases of bottled water for everyday use. I just want to tap them and say "You know, you can get that stuff much cheaper at home". -

Re: Why Are we Purchasing them in the 1st Place?
Sun, June 1, 2008 - 11:45 AMSome city water is terrible... if it's not "dirty", it's so full of chemicals and metals that it's undrinkable. A filter can help quite a bit, though it doesn't always make it perfect. My parents have to filter their water, otherwise it's like tinny swimming pool water. -

Re: Why Are we Purchasing them in the 1st Place?
Mon, June 2, 2008 - 10:35 PMMy treated water is awful. After living here a month my skin was like a dry sponge and hair like straw. I didn't realize what it was for a few months. I finally installed a filter on my shower and have seen great improvement. I would suspect a filter on the kitchen tap would be a good idea also, as I do not buy packaged water.
